Spyro Reignited Trilogy gathers three adventures starring the purple dragon: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!—known in Europe as Gateway to Glimmer—and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Developed by Toys For Bob and published by Activision, this Nintendo Switch release arrived on September 3, 2019.

Across the collection, Spyro explores colorful worlds by breathing fire, charging foes, and gliding across gaps. Platforming and exploration are central to each adventure, with gems, hidden routes, characters to assist, and challenges spread throughout the levels.

Three Dragon Adventures

In Spyro the Dragon, Gnasty Gnorc has trapped dragons in crystal, leaving Spyro and Sparx to free them and confront his gnorc army. Ripto’s Rage! sends Spyro to Avalar after Ripto takes control of the realm. In Year of the Dragon, a sorceress steals the dragon eggs during a festival, prompting Spyro and his allies to recover them across forgotten realms.

Exploration and Abilities

Collecting gems is a major activity, and many are placed in concealed or hard-to-reach locations. Players can search for dragons and eggs, take on boss encounters, and complete extra challenges. Later games introduce additional movement options such as swimming and climbing, while Year of the Dragon adds other playable characters.

The European and USA release supports English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese. Its genre combines adventure and platforming elements.
