Released for Nintendo Switch on April 30, 2020, Streets of Rage 4 is a fighting game published by Dotemu and developed by Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. It continues the series ten years after Streets of Rage 3.

Wood Oak City is threatened by a new criminal organization led by the Y twins, children of Mr. X. Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding return alongside Adam Hunter, Cherry Hunter, and Floyd Iraia to confront the syndicate and restore order.

Side-Scrolling Combat

The game builds on the classic beat ’em up format with side-scrolling stages, waves of opponents, character-specific fighting styles, special moves, throws, weapons, and environmental hazards. Its combat includes combos, defensive options, counters, and powerful Super Specials activated with collected stars.

Risk and Recovery

Special attacks use health, but that lost health can be recovered by quickly landing further hits. This creates a risk-and-reward element during battles, while combo chains reward continued offensive pressure and help players deal with tougher encounters.

Playable Fighters

Axel, Blaze, Adam, Cherry, and Floyd each bring distinct abilities and approaches to combat. Choosing between their different movesets lets players adapt their approach as they face enemy groups, ranged attackers, shielded foes, and bosses.
