Subnautica

04 About Subnautica

Subnautica is an adventure survival game set on Planet 4546B, where the lone survivor of the Aurora crash must endure an unfamiliar ocean world. Exploration begins around the escape pod and expands into a vast underwater environment filled with resources, wreckage, wildlife, and increasingly dangerous depths.

Survival depends on monitoring oxygen, food, and water while gathering materials for tools, equipment, and habitat construction. Clues from data logs, PDA entries, alien structures, and earlier expeditions gradually reveal the planet’s ancient civilization and a mysterious plague.

Explore an alien ocean

The open-world sea spans a range of biomes, from shallow coral reefs to deep trenches. Players can search the ocean floor and wreck sites for materials, blueprints, and information, while encountering ecosystems that include peaceful fish as well as formidable leviathan-class creatures.

Craft, build, and descend

Collected resources can be turned into survival gear, advanced upgrades, and underwater base modules. Habitats offer storage and a place to support longer expeditions, while vehicles such as the Seamoth and Cyclops help reach more distant and deeper areas.

A mystery beneath the surface

Subnautica’s journey is driven by the effort to escape Planet 4546B. As exploration pushes farther below the surface, discoveries about alien installations, the fate of past visitors, and the world’s inhabitants bring the central mystery into focus.
