Super Bomberman R is a Nintendo Switch action party game from Konami, released on May 27, 2021. It combines the series’ familiar maze arenas and bomb-placement tactics with a story campaign and competitive battle play.

Players clear blocks, uncover upgrades, evade explosions, and use carefully timed bombs to defeat enemies or trap rivals. Bomb capacity, blast range, and movement speed can all be enhanced through power-ups found during a match.

A Galactic Bomberman Campaign

The story follows the eight Bomberman Bros., led by White Bomberman, as they travel between planets to oppose Emperor Buggler and the Five Dastardly Bombers. Each world brings new challenges and a confrontation with one of Buggler’s generals before the final threat can be faced.

Bomb Placement and Arena Tactics

Success depends on more than dropping bombs at random. Players must create escape routes, break soft blocks to open the arena, anticipate chain reactions, and corner opponents without getting caught in their own blasts. Stage hazards add further dangers to account for during play.

Characters, Rewards, and Modes

The roster includes Bomberman characters with individual abilities to learn. Story Mode can be played cooperatively with a friend, while Battle Mode supports matches for up to eight players locally or online. Friendship gems earned through play can unlock additional characters, accessories, and battle stages.
