04 About Super Mario Maker 2

Super Mario Maker 2 is a Nintendo-developed platformer for Nintendo Switch, released on June 28, 2019. It combines traditional Mario action with course creation, letting players design stages or take on courses made by Nintendo and other players.

Its Story Mode begins after Princess Peach's castle disappears, leaving behind only a flagpole. Mario works with Toad and the other Toads to restore the castle, earning coins by clearing courses created by Undodog.

Create Mario Courses

Course creation uses touch or button controls to place terrain, enemies, power-ups, and other elements. Players can work across five Mario game styles, including Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 3D World, whose distinct mechanics and visuals shape how each course plays. New tools include the Superball Flower, Koopa Troopa Car, and ON/OFF Switches.

Story Mode Challenges

Story Mode contains more than 100 Nintendo-made levels. Alongside the castle-rebuilding objective, these courses introduce level-design ideas and items that can inspire new creations while offering prepared platforming challenges.

Course World and Multiplayer

Course World provides access to user-created courses, with browsing options based on popularity, recent uploads, and tags such as puzzle, speedrun, and music. Courses can also be shared through tags that describe their focus. Up to four players can take part in local or online cooperative and versus play.

Build Complete Worlds

World Maker allows creators to link multiple courses with their own overworld maps, forming larger Mario adventures. Testing courses from start to finish and using visual guidance such as coins, arrows, and semisolids can help make routes clearer for players.
