04 About Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey is an action-adventure platformer developed and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch. Released on October 27, 2017, it follows Mario on a journey through a series of distinct kingdoms.

Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach in preparation for a forced wedding. After losing his cap, Mario meets Cappy, a magical resident of Cap Kingdom whose sister Tiara was also taken. The pair set out aboard the Odyssey airship to pursue Bowser.

A journey powered by Power Moons

Mario and Cappy travel between imaginative locations in search of Power Moons, which fuel the Odyssey. Each kingdom contains inhabitants, environmental challenges, secrets, and optional discoveries, encouraging players to return as new opportunities become available.

Cappy and capture abilities

Cappy expands Mario’s platforming moves with cap throws, cap jumps, and other movement options. Mario can also capture certain enemies and objects, temporarily using their abilities to explore areas, solve puzzles, and approach encounters in different ways. Capturable characters include Goombas, Hammer Bros, and T-Rexes.

Exploration and collectibles

Beyond Power Moons, kingdoms contain regular coins and region-specific purple coins. These can be used for outfits and souvenirs, while some costumes can affect access to areas or interactions with characters. Hidden routes, side activities, hint art, and environmental details reward careful exploration.
