Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Sega, released for Nintendo Switch on September 25, 2018. Set during the Second Europan War, it follows Commander Claude Wallace and Squad E of the Edinburgh Army as they confront the Imperial Alliance on the Eastern Front.

Squad E undertakes Operation Northern Cross, a dangerous campaign aimed at the Imperial capital. Their journey across snowbound battlefields and fortified enemy territory places camaraderie, sacrifice, and the human cost of war at the center of the conflict.

BLiTZ Battle System

Combat combines strategic command with direct third-person control. Players select units from a battlefield map, then move them and aim attacks while managing limited Command Points. Careful positioning, cover, terrain, and enemy placement all shape each encounter.

Squad and vehicle tactics

The squad includes Scouts, Shocktroopers, Lancers, Engineers, Snipers, and the Grenadier class, which provides indirect explosive fire. The Hafen tank adds heavy firepower and protection, while Engineers can repair vehicles, replenish ammunition, and clear landmines.

Hand-drawn battlefields
