Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is a Sega sports game for Nintendo Switch, released on November 5, 2019. It brings Nintendo and Sega characters together for Olympic competition set around Tokyo.

The game combines contemporary Tokyo 2020 events with a retro-styled Tokyo 1964 setting. Its story follows Mario, Sonic, Bowser, and Dr. Eggman after a mysterious device sends them into the past, while their friends take part in present-day events.

Olympic events

More than 30 sporting events are included, covering track and field, team competition, martial arts, and precision challenges. Examples include the 100m Dash, karate, skateboarding, surfing, sport climbing, archery, fencing, gymnastics, football, and rugby sevens.

Two eras of competition

Modern events use 3D presentation, while the Tokyo 1964 storyline features 8-bit and 16-bit-inspired challenges. This contrast lets players move between contemporary Olympic contests and classic-looking retro events.

Dream Events
